The Thommen watchmaking story began in 1853 with the Société d’Horlogerie à Waldenbourg in Switzerland. Gédéon Thommen later took sole ownership of the company, which developed into an integrated watch manufacturer. Its history expanded into aviation in the early 20th century, including the development of cockpit instruments and the delivery of an aircraft clock to the Swiss Air Force in 1916. Over generations, the name has been associated with robust watches and instruments used in aviation, sport, the military and mountaineering. GT Thommen Watch AG continues this Swiss watchmaking tradition, with future Thommen 1853 collections remaining Swiss Made and rooted in the territories of air, sea and land.
